The UAB goes to 4YFN with 7 spin-offs
The University will be present at 4 Years From Now (4YFN), the start-up fair being hosted from February 26th to 29th under the Mobile World Congress of Barcelona (MWC). The UAB stand will give visibility to seven mobile and digital spin-offs from the UAB Engineering School.
For the second year in a row, the UAB will show its entrepreneurial and innovative capacity with a stand of its own at the 4YFN on February 28th and 29th. The stand will give visibility to seven companies created by UAB researchers from different sectors, such as life and energy sciences, environment, and engineering:
- Allread is a spin-off from the Centre de Visió per Computador specialised in detecting text in images and digitalising them. Their goal is to bring to the market their own technology based on deep learning, streamlining the identification and following of containers in ports and airports.
- AWEC is a technology-based company from the UAB located at the Edifici Eureka of the Parc de Recerca UAB that transfers knowledge about animal welfare to the farming and pet sectors, the biotechnology industry, and zoologic institutions.
- Bioeclosion is a technology-based company that has developed a test for rapid diagnosis of celiac disease, analysing the patient's blood at the same consultation of the medical specialist. The company's goal is to avoid this long process and make a non-invasive test.
- Distinkt is a TBC from the UAB, l’ICN2 i el CSIC, that commercialises nanotechnology-based intelligent ink for anti-falsification uses. It offers a new generation of fluorescent, high-security inks. Their solution consists of a powder that contains both nanoparticles and microparticles that change colour or fluorescence when exposed to infrared light.
- Nanoligent is a technology-based company from the UAB, created to develop nanomedicine for treating cancer via the selective elimination of tumoral cells.It is a nanoparticle-based system that transports a chemotherapeutic drug and releases it into cancer cells..
- Tectum Garden was born in the Sostenipra research group, from the Institut de Ciència i Tecnologia Ambientals at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, they are specialists in urban agriculture and have many expertises to be able to give an interdisciplinary answer to the challenges that come to make cities more sustainable.
- Vetgenomics is technology-based company from the UAB located at the Edifici Eureka of the Parc de Recerca UAB, that specialises in veterinarian genetic diagnosis.
Besides the company, at the stand there will be innovative technologies developed by research personnel and students at the UAB Engineering School.
